A Complete Smile Makeover Take?

This is entirely dependent on the different procedures Dr. Joel Darrah recommends as part of your treatment plan. Some smile makeovers could take a little as a month or two, while others may take up to 6-12 months or longer.

For example, if you have multiple seriously decayed teeth, Dr. Darrah may recommend multiple fillings, crowns, and root canal therapy, as well as teeth whitening. This entire process may take only a few appointments over 1-2 months.

On the other hand, if you have several missing teeth, you may require treatments like dental implants, which usually take at least 6 months to complete, at a minimum. How Does The Dentist Decide

Which Procedures Are Needed For My Smile Makeover?

Dr. Darrah uses his years of experience in cosmetic and restorative dentistry to determine which treatments are right for you, based on a comprehensive oral exam.

During your initial appointment, he will examine your teeth closely, take impressions and photos of your smile, and take x-rays and 3D images of your mouth and your teeth. He will also discuss your budget, your oral health and overall health, and your personal preferences for dental care with you.

Then, you and Dr. Darrah will work together to explore the options that may be right for your treatment. Once your dental care plan has been developed, you’ll agree to your smile makeover treatment, and you’ll take your first steps toward your new smile by booking your first appointment at our office.

A good candidate for a smile makeover is someone who has multiple aesthetic concerns with their teeth that would require multiple cosmetic treatments. For example, if you suffer from any combination of aesthetic issues, like discolored, gapped, crooked, or chipped teeth, but your teeth and gums are otherwise healthy, a smile makeover may be right for you.  

Maybe you have a few aesthetic concerns or many, but the point of a smile makeover is for it to be entirely customizable for your personal needs. The best way to determine if you’re a good candidate for a smile makeover is to come in for a consultation with Dr. Darrah. Smile makeovers can correct so many cosmetic issues, including:

A good candidate would also be in good oral health. We cannot move forward with cosmetic treatments if you have active tooth decay or gum disease. Many restorations also require healthy gums and adequate jawbone support. If you have previously suffered from gum disease or have bone loss, you may not be a good candidate for fixed restorations like implants or bridges.

Do Smile Makeovers Cost?

The cost of a smile makeover depends on many different factors, such as how many cosmetic treatments you are getting, how complex they are, the type of dentist you are seeing and their experience level, the materials of restorations, and how advanced the technology being used is.

The cost can vary greatly since every person’s tailored plan is completely different and could involve as few as two minor treatments, or a combination of many complex ones. On the low end, your makeover could be a few hundred dollars, but on the high end, it could be thousands. 

Treatments that are more invasive and require oral surgery will cost more than minimally invasive treatments like fillings, teeth whitening, or dental bonding. You can expect to pay more when you’re receiving dental implants, porcelain crowns, bridges, or implant-supported dentures.

Are Smile Makeovers

Covered By Insurance?

Since smile makeovers are a cosmetic treatment, they are not likely to be covered by dental insurance. Insurance will not cover purely cosmetic dental work unless you can prove that the treatment is medically necessary. 

For example, crowns will not be covered if they are being used to mask discoloration but they may be covered if they are needed to restore a damaged tooth. Even then, insurance may only cover restorations made of certain materials. Contact your insurance provider to find out what they will cover and what limitations are in place.
